Objective: The aim of this study was to determine through face-name association whether errorless learning has an effect on face-name memory and memory self-efficacy of the elderly with mild dementia.
Methods: The study subjects were three elderly persons diagnosed with dementia. The independent variable was EL which combines SR with a face-name association. As the dependent variables, the face-name retrieval success rate and face-name memory level in a real life setting, the Names-Faces and Delayed Names-Faces Recall of the K-MAS and the memory self-efficacy were measured.
Results: The results of this study showed that after errorless learning the face-name retrieval success rate and face-name memory level in a real life setting, the Delayed Names-Faces Recall and memory self-efficacy all improved for each subject. The measurement of the treatment maintenance effect showed that the improvements in the face-name retrieval success rate and face-name memory level in a real life setting, as well as the memory self-efficacy, were maintained for all subjects.
Conclusion: According to our study, errorless learning was found to be an effective mediation for face-name memory and memory self-efficacy of the elderly with mild dementia.
